Why a Healthy Smoothie or a shake or a drink ? Can that be a Meal Replacement ?

These days I have been looking all around to find some useful fitness resources especially around Nutrition.
Despite so many websites and resources its hard to find the right options.
I am no Nutrition expert but will be trying to post whatever useful stuff I find on the internet or through people.

Lets start with the Meal Replacement Smoothie options.

Question, why Smoothies ? Aren't they loaded with Fat ?

Well to put it in a simple way it depends.
Depends on what ingredients make up your Smoothie. The Smoothies that I have been having lately are much better than having a Full Meal. Reason is you get everything from Proteins to Vitamins and all essential Vitamins etc.

The point is what I have learned over time is that your diet should include Protein and should be good enough to not only provide sufficient nutrition but also curb your hunger and make you feel fuller for a longer time. Now its not quite possible to eat right all the time and have the right dose of Nutrients in every meal.

Smoothies can help you with that.

Along with that it can help you in loosing weight. And also to have better energy levels.

So what all your smoothies can have. Hmm pretty much everything from Greens to Fruits and Proteins. The more the better. For example you can have a smoothie with Soy Milk or regular milk blended with Spinach, Blueberries, Pears, Banana etc etc. See so many options.

There are plenty of options out there in the market. From Shakeology to GNC, which you can directly blend with water or milk and have.
I am trying to look for options which can be made at home from what we find in our Kitchen and will cost almost nothing.
To start with I just came across this recipe: Almond Berry Banana Yogurt Smoothie
It looks pretty healthy and is quite easy to make. In my opinion we can also put half of an Apple or maybe mix some Greens like Spinach or Broccoli.

Here is the recipe from the original post:

Ingredients
6 large strawberries
1/2 sliced banana
1/2 cup blueberries
6 ounces plain Greek yogurt
1 cup skim milk
1/4 cup almonds
Directions
  1. Cut the tops off of five of the strawberries.
  2. Place the strawberries, banana, blueberries, yogurt, milk, and almonds in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. Garnish with a strawberry.

Lets give it a try and see how it feels.
